Jack Fellows: SBD Dauntless The SBD Dauntless was the U.S. Navy's primary carrier-based dive bomber during most of World War II, sinking the first Japanese submarine as well as the first Japanese aircraft carrier. Four allied nations also used these dependable planes, making the Dauntless the war's most important carrier-based dive bomber.
