Gary Greer: Lime Blossom The Lime family, with species spread from the tropics through the temperate zones, is a large family of nearly three hundred species. Several well-known Limes of the Northern Hemisphere are the Linden, the North American Bass Wood, and the Silver Lime. The Limes, with their thick foliage of heart-shaped leaves, are frequently planted as shade trees. These trees are also loved for their fragrant flowers which draw many honeybees to feast on the nectar.
