The Wild Camomile thrives in sandy soils of crub and waste areas. This small plant is just two feet tall when standing erect. THe Wild Camomile produces white florets and many small yellow disc florets which are borne on a conical recptacle. A strongly aromatic plant, the Wild Camomile provides man's Oil of Camomile which is used as a component of hair rinse.

This painting originally appeared on the Fleetwood® First Day Cover for the German Democratic Republic Camomile stamp Flora and Fauna of the World Collection issued January 10, 1978.
