Generally, New Zealand's orchids reveal themselves in all their splendor during the country's summer months, as is the case with the brilliant Sun Orchid. As its name suggests, this orchid thrives in bright environments. It can be found on clay banks or in damp, well-lit areas where it blooms in a variety of shades from snow white to soft pink to rich, lavender-blue.
