The name Helichrysum comes from the Greek word for sun and gold and alludes to the lovely golden color of the flower heads. It is one of the better known groups of the everlastings. Accurately named, the everlastings have a papery texture that makes them popular in delightful and colorful dried flower arrangements.

This painting originally appeared on the Fleetwood® First Day Cover for the Lesotho Helichrysum trilineatum stamp Flora and Fauna of the World Collection issued February 13, 1978.
