Basil Smith: Mandevilla splendens Flowering Vine A member of the dogbane family, this genus is comprised of more than 100 species of twining vines and shrubs indigenous to Mexico, Central and South America. The Mandevilla splendens has broad, elliptic leaves which frame delicate rose-pink, funnel-shaped blossoms. This free-flowering ornamental vine thrives in warm climates, and requires little care other than watering and pruning.
