Gene Jarvis: Dactylorchis Maculata -- Spotted Orchid The Heath Spotted Orchid Dactylorchis maculata is the most common orchid in the Faroe Islands and throughout all the Nordic countries. The leaves are more or less spotted, but spotless leaves can also be found. The color of the flowers varies a great deal from violet to almost white. The Heath Spotted Orchid has its total distribution in the northern and western parts of Europe and also in Siberia.
