Forming a faint crooked line along the equator, Leo Minor, the Lesser Lion is formed from eighteen stars between the Greater Lion, Leo Major, and the Big Bear, Ursa Major. It is known to the French as the Petit Lion, to the Germans as the Kleine Lowe and to the Italians as the Leoncino.

This painting was originally published on the Fleetwood® First Day Cover for the Panama Halley's Comet stamps issued October 30, 1986.
