Begonias are found wild in South and Central America and many are native to India and other tropical countries. The tuberous Begonias have large underground tubers and flowers in almost every shade. Some flowers have frilled petals, some are crested. Shown are several different forms and one variety which has leaves stained and flushed with green and crimson.

This painting originally appeared on the Fleetwood® Combination First Day Cover of the Dominica $1 and 2¢ 60th Birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II stamps issued April 21, 1986.
