Hibiscus rosa-sinensis. Although this plant originated in Asia and the Pacific islands, it occurs in many tropical islands. The deep trumpet shaped flowers while not lasting very long are found in profusion and are sweetly scented. There are thousands of color combinations, with some varieties have 2" blossoms and others, 10-12". Some with bushes that will only grow a foot in several years while others may grow to 15 feet if left undisturbed. Singles, doubles, some blooming almost every day, the variation in the tropical hibiscus family is astounding!
