Lois Hatcher: Children At Play
Though today's world is not a perfect world for children, it is a far better world than they have ever known. Better nutrition and prenatal care have greatly increased the number of healthy babies. In almost every country, children have benefited from better farming methods and improved food preservation. On a day-to-day basis, most of the world's children eat better than ever before. And, since man has learned to purify his water and pasteurize his milk, the world's children have escaped the infectious diseases sometimes carried by these easily polluted liquids. To be sure, children not only feel better because their diet is improved, but they also are more resistant to diseases in general. Recent medical advances have transformed childhood into something more than just an endless series of illnesses. Today, the scourges of childhood can all be prevented. Indeed, in this modern age, children can enjoy a more pleasant life as well as a much healthier one. Artwork Copyright © 1979 Unicover Corporation.
