Basil Smith: Genet The Genet is a distant cousin of the mongoose. Its long body and short legs give it an awkward appearance, but the Genet displays elegant form when running. The Genet is a nocturnal creature most active at dusk and its darkly-spotted fur helps the cat-like animal blend into dense foliage. The Genet feeds on small mammals and birds, and its keen senses of sight, hearing and smell make it a formidable hunter.
