Basil Smith: Serval The Serval is a medium-sized, long-legged cat which thrives in a variety of habitats. This spotted felid is not a good runner, instead using its slender forelegs to pull rodents out of dens and rocky crevices. An expert hunter, the cat often fishes for prey or catches bird in flight with its paws. The Serval is long-lived and may survive in captivity for twenty years.
