Gene Jarvis: Hip Twig with Haws
This Rose thrives in woodlands and hedges around the world. The white or pinkish flowers are very fragrant and the ovoid fruits are a lovely scarlet. The Haws, or Hips, have a higher proportion of Vitamin C than any other commonly available fruit or vegetable. There is as much Vitamin C in a cup of rosehips as in the pulp of 40 oranges.
