Gene Jarvis: Cloudberry Plant The Cloudberry is a member of the Rubus genus, a bramble fruit very much like the North American raspberry. The genus derives its name from the Latin woud rubus, meaning red. Although represented by many species in North America, the Cloudberry is much more abundant in the Old World, where there are endless varieties and a frequent intermixture of forms. Its berries are eaten off the bush, or are made into a delectable jam.
