Erik Nitsche: Guernsey Museum and Gallery
Artist: Erik Nitsche
Featured in this artwork is the Guernsey Museum and Gallery, which was completed in 1979. Hidden in Candie Gardens, the Guernsey Museum and Art Gallery was designed as a cluster of octagons, inspired by a Victorian bandstand now incorporated in the buildings. Also in Candie Gardens is the statue of the famed French novelist Victor Hugo.
This painting was originally published on the Fleetwood® First Day Cover for the Guernsey Europa 1987 Modern Art - Architecture stamp issued May 5, 1987.
