Dennis Lyall
American 1946 -

Dennis Lyall is well known to stamp collectors around the world as an accomplished designer of over 30 United States postage stamps and one stamp for Ireland. He was one of only ten artists selected for America's Celebrate the Century stamp series, designing the 15 stamps capturing the story of the 1910s. One of his stamp designs, issued in 1999 by the U.S. and by Ireland, tells the story of Irish Immigration to the U.S. in a scene of a large ship sailing into harbor as seen from a ship's deck and is already a classic. He has a flair for story telling and bringing America's history alive in authoritative original paintings. A native of Iowa and graduate of the University of Kansas, he lives in Connecticut. His works have exhibited in prestigious galleries and have been featured in many major national magazines. --- December 21, 2001
