(Mrs.) Ren Yu
Chinese 1945 -

Born in 1945 in Chongqing, Sichuan Province, in China, Ren Yu, studied formal western painting techniques in the middle school attached to the Central Academy of Fine Arts. She graduated in 1967 and later became a stamp designer for the Stamp Issuing Bureau of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of China.

Ren Yu created original designs for stamps, as well as for pre-stamped postcards and envelopes. She is skillful in various mediums including watercolor, gouache and oils, and has mastered the highly-stylized technique needed for traditional Chinese painting, characterized by fine brushwork and close attention to detail. Ren Yu's stamp designs portray a variety of subjects including, Third National Games of People's Republic of China, Camellias of Yunan, World Communications Year, Chinese Alligator, 200th Anniversary of the Birth of Lin Zexu and Year of the Ox.
