Chris Calle
American 1961 -

Chris Calle graduated from the University of Michigan with honors in 1983. A free-lance illustrator, he is internationally renowned as a stamp designer. In addition to his work on postage stamps for the U.S. Postal Service, Calle has designed postage stamps for a variety of foreign countries. He has received assignments from such prestigious organizations as NASA and Reader's Digest, and his artwork can be found in many major corporate and private collections. Selected as an official NASA artist to document the Space Shuttle program, Calle continues to find the theme of space travel and exploration a fascinating and exciting subject for his art. Calle's paintings reflect a strong sense of design and a keen interest in the personalities and imagery of historical events. Calle is known for his skill at combining multiple elements into a dynamic montage. From the weather-beaten face of the proud American Indian chief to the delicate softness of a snow leopard's fur, Calle's unique technique and artistic style convey a strong sense of pride and accomplishment in his art.
