R.G. Finney
American 1941 -

Growing up in scenic Canada gave R.G. Finney a lifelong love for the outdoors. As a youngster, Finney was active in scouting and was chosen Scout of the Year for Ontario, Canada. When he was only 17 years old, Finney enlisted in the Navy. Later he served in Vietnam as a Green Beret with the 82nd and 101st Army Airborne Divisions. In addition, he worked as a combat illustrator, a position that helped hone his talents. Having completed over 13 years of military service, Finney attended Dallas Baptist College, receiving his bachelors degree in career arts with emphasis on art and history. Today, Finney works in a log studio attached to the home he and his wife Lynn built on the banks of Wyoming's Encampment River. Filled with Indian artifacts, western paraphernalia and bookcases packed with source materials, Finney's studio and its scenic location inspire him to create his captivating paintings.
