| Michael Garland American 1952 - A native New Yorker, Michael
Garland graduated in 1974 from Brooklyn's Pratt Institute with a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, majoring in Illustration. Since then he has worked as a freelance illustrator and writer with
such varied clients as Dutton, Harper Collins, Random House, Newsweek, Forbes, Fortune, Woman's Day, NBC, CBS, ABC, NYNEX, Bell South and the United States Marines. Complementing his
illustration career, Garland produced a series of personal paintings that were highlighted in American Artist magazine and appeared in galleries and exhibitions nationwide. Garland's work has
appeared in almost all of the last twenty Society of Illustrators Annual Shows. In addition, his work has been selected for the Original Art of Children's Books, the Print annual and the
Communications Arts annual. Dinner at Magritte's, the most recent book Garland authored and illustrated, was a Junior Library Guild selection and received a star review in Publishers Weekly.
